One of the four roof terminations providing mixing ventilation for the hall
Recently E-Stack Ltd has installed the e-stack® natural ventilation system in the new block at Unity College, Northampton. As well as installing mixing ventilation stacks in three of the music rooms, we also developed a strategy of Talking Stacks for the new 300 person hall. This new innovation includes four e-stack® controlled stacks which communicate and provide controlled, naturally pre-heated mixing ventilation in cold winter conditions, effectively recycling the internal heat gains through natural pre-heating of the ventilation air.

Monitoring of the new development, which has been carried out with support of The Carbon Trust, suggests that the system is maintaining low CO2 levels in the space, and also that the pre-heating through mixing is very effective at preventing cold draughts developing in the seating zone and stage areas.
